Game

Bells commitment to providing only the best ensures that you will have premium game from which to choose. The range takes in all traditional, native species plus new additions to table game from other parts of the world.

Much of our game has been sourced from the local, Cumbrian and Borders larder. Venison comes from such well known estates as Lowther, Dalemain and The National Trust.

Feathered game includes pheasant, partridge, grouse and woodcock, while waterfowl takes in mallard, widgeon and teal. Four footed game includes hare, rabbit, wild boar and venison. Complementing the native game are exotic meats such as buffalo, ostrich, wild boar and even foie gras, confit of duck leg, and frogs legs.

Here at Bells we collect our native game from local estates, bringing them to our premises where they can hang and then be processed to the high standards demanded by our clients. At this point we pluck, draw and dress the game, boning and packaging them ready for delivery.

Because we can supply to order we are able to prepare different species to your specific requirements; for example, snipe and woodcock with head, beak and intestines left intact, or else dressed normally. You can buy whole birds or breast fillets, supremes or legs. The closed season for game presents no problem; you can purchase game we have frozen at the peak of freshness. And whether you want oven-ready, even portion-controlled foods requiring the minimum of preparation and handling, or you prefer to buy whole birds or roasts of venison and wild boar, we can deliver to order. Some of the meats such as venison and wild boar are also available smoked and as sausages, made to our specification here in Carlisle.

You can have regular, scheduled deliveries or ask for occasional, special drops. You can buy to order or select from stock with the products carrying traceability and Bells guarantee of quality. Because we insist that all staff are trained in safe food handling, your orders arrive in peak condition. As a customer of Bells you buy into our established commitment to quality and the highest possible standards.
