Bells first commitment is to freshness, overnight deliveries arrive by daybreak all year round and cleaning, filleting, packing and dispatch have been completed in under 6 hours. Seasonality of supplies is lengthened by freezing a small proportion of prime stock on site. Locally reared, free range poultry, particularly free range geese and ducklings, can be supplied for Christmas and New Year.
The second commitment is to quality. For a fish supplier to be on our approved list means they have consistently sourced fish to Bells high standards, laid down over 33 years. Much of the poultry and game has been sourced from the local, Cumbrian and Borders larder. Venison comes from such well known estates as Lowther, Dalemain and The National Trust. Complementing the native game are exotic meats such as buffalo, ostrich, wild boar and even foie gras and frogs legs.
Our smokehouse adds to the range of merchandise offered to customers. Salmon, rainbow trout, shellfish, venison, chicken and duck are cured on-site in Carlisle. You can even ask us to smoke other foods to your own requirements.
Finally, Bells insist that all their staff are trained in safe food handling so that your orders arrive in peak condition. This guarantees that we are more than fully compliant with EU regulations.
